This Privacy Policy explains how flowy, the Screen Recorder & Video Editor App ("the App"), handles information. The App's recording and editing features work locally. Recordings are sent to us only when you deliberately submit an issue report that includes them. Separate technical diagnostics may be sent through our crash-reporting service as described below.
Screen recordings, system and microphone audio, camera video, cursor activity, editing data, exports, preferences, and selected file locations are created and stored solely on your Mac.
The App uses error-tracking subprocessors to help us identify crashes, errors, and app hangs. The diagnostic events sent to us may include stack traces, error messages, app states, app version, operating-system and device information, and technical network information needed to deliver and secure the service. These events are intended to describe App behavior, not the contents of your recordings. We do not use them for advertising or cross-app tracking, only for improving the App's reliability.
The App lets you submit an issue report after reviewing a disclosure and giving consent for that submission. You can send diagnostic logs only, or a complete .flowy project. A complete project may contain screen content, system or microphone audio, camera video, cursor and click data, project metadata, and editing settings. It may therefore contain personal, confidential, or third-party information visible or audible in the recording. No unrelated files are added to the report.
A submitted report also includes or may include:
We use this information only to:
We do not sell personal information. We do not use App information for targeted advertising, advertising profiles, or tracking you across apps or websites.
The App may request the following macOS permissions:
You can revoke these permissions in macOS System Settings. The App does not use them to record your activity when you have not started a recording.
Report archives and their associated report records are kept for up to 30 days so we can investigate and respond, after which a scheduled cleanup automatically removes them. We may delete a report sooner when it is no longer needed or if you make a deletion request.
Crash and hang diagnostics are retained for up to 30 days and deleted or anonymized when no longer needed for reliability and security.
Local recordings and preferences remain until you remove them, reset the App, or delete the App's support files.
Reports are protected in transit, access is restricted, and upload requests are authenticated. Carefully review a project before sending it and avoid including content that is not necessary to diagnose the issue.
For a report request, contact us promptly and include the report ID shown by the App. We may need enough information to verify that the request concerns your report. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to correction, restriction, objection, portability, or appeal, and to complain to your local data-protection authority.
Where law requires a legal basis, we process a report's optional project or logs based on the consent you give when sending it. We process technical diagnostics and limited security data based on our legitimate interests in maintaining a reliable and secure App and reporting service. We process contact details to respond to your request and may process information to comply with legal obligations. You can withdraw consent for future processing, but withdrawal does not make earlier lawful processing unlawful.
We may update this policy when the App, our providers, or applicable law changes. We will update the date above and provide additional notice in the App or on the website when appropriate.
